What’s in a SWIRCLE?
Simply put, each SWIRCLE event is an exclusive group workshop limited to 6 sign-ups per session. It’s created by professional songwriters for emerging songwriters. We meet in a relaxed atmosphere, test drive new song ideas and explore the creative process. Group members are encouraged to give and receive supportive feedback. As an industry professional with 30+ years experience, Matt will provide performance coaching advice. Participants have an allotted time to present their ideas and questions in turn. Subject to venue and schedule availability, there may also be an option to play songs in a public ‘open mic / live lounge’ format.
SESSION FEATURES

The Shared SWIRCLE portion ofi each session is 2 hours long. This gives each participant about 20 minutes to share their song ideas and chat through feedback with peers and songwriting professional, Matt White.

After the 2 hour Shared SWIRCLE, subject to venue and schedule availability, the session opens to the public and each participant has the opportunity to perform 4-5 songs in the live lounge for the public. It’s not mandatory, but we encourage you to do so, as this is a highly valuable part of your experience during the session. No time like the present to get started!

To conclude, The group has an informal social sit down to compare performance notes, in which you are invited to give and receive constructive feedback. It’s a great opportunity to enhance your box of tricks, adapt your songwriting / performance approaches and continue growth.

Remember the first song or recording artist you heard that captured your imagination and made you think “I wanna do that!!” No matter where you are in your songwriting journey, no matter what story you want to tell, this group is for you. If you’re just beginning, that’s awesome! Think of all the creative fun you have ahead of you while you develop your skills as a songwriter. Bring the beginnings of your story, melody or inspiration to the table and share it with your SWIRCLE peers during your session spot. They are here to support and encourage you with friendly feedback and advice.

As your creative songwriting momentum builds, you’ll organically develop your own style by identifying and leaning into the “you-ness” of your creative voice and tone. During these reflective sessions, you’ll discover confidence in your choices of stylistic direction. You’ll be guided to develop your own unique style that shines a light on your natural talents. With the help of experienced SWIRCLE professionals you’ll hone your performance approach, craft melodies that you can nail in your natural range while still pushing boundaries of ability toward continued growth.

As you venture to share your songs with SWIRCLE peers, they’ll share their own experiences of the creative process. You’ll benefit from increased lyrical dexterity. As your creative freedom blossoms, the pace of your songwriting output will improve.

with your donations
One of our core project aims is inclusivity, so that we can provide this platform to a diverse group of emerging artists and help develop their songwriting and live performance skills. We want the SWIRCLE project to have the widest possible reach and build momentum quickly, so we've done away with a session sign up fee by inviting participants to make a pay-what-you-can-donation per session. Here's what your donation goes toward:
£ 10 travel costs
£ 20 travel + marketing costs
£ 30 travel, marketing + a bit for our time & advice
Whatever you can give will go a long way to sustaining the project so that we can continue to build success and offer more sessions in different locations. We appreciate your participation and look forward to hearing your next great musical works!
